At the beginning of this month (March 2024), my wife and I spent a week in Portugal as part of a tour with the Exoticca Tour company. The agenda took us to many interesting and photogenic sites, and our tour guide, Silvia, was exceptional. We found Portugal to be much to our liking. The country is very clean, the people are very friendly, and prices on everything from food to taxis are very reasonable. Portugal is very picturesque with its old towns, narrow streets, old palaces, and overall great scenery.
Most of the towns we visited were built on hillsides and their prominent structures like palaces and castles were built on the top of the hills. Although some of the walking to get to them was somewhat strenuous they afforded spectacular views of the towns below with their red tiled roofs and pastel-colored structures. All of these old towns consisted of the narrow streets, cobblestone-type pavements, and interesting shops that are common to the European countries.
