When asked if I prefer color images or monochrome images my reply is " I'm partial to monochrome". Like many of us, I started my hobby with monochrome photographs. My first "serious" camera was a used Pentax Spotmatic and I built a darkroom in my parents basement. At the time color printing was not feasible in a home darkroom until darkroom rentals came about.
I like the contrast and texture of monochrome images unconcealed by vibrant colors. I photograph in color and I use various methods and software to make my monochrome conversions. I find that a particular software might work better on one image than another. Often times I convert an image to monochrome with two or three different software packages to see which one I like best. Presently, I lean toward Photoshop, Luminar, and onOne software for my monochrome conversions.
